Welcome to the FSA Birth Parent Blog

Families Supporting Adoption, an organization sponsored by LDS Family Services, seeks to promote a positive view of adoption. The organization has more than 5, 000 members-including adoptive couples, birth parents, adults who were adopted, and adoption professionals-in chapters throughout the U.S., Canada, and New Zealand. FSA focuses its efforts on four main areas: outreach, media, education and support.

Facebook Birth Parent Group

We are excited to announce that the remote expectant/birth parent support group currently being held on the phone will be moving to a chat feature on Facebook. Girls can join the group chat by searching for “LDSFS Expectant Parent/Birth Parent Support Group” and requesting to join, since it is a closed group.

We will host this group on the last Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. (MST) (see dates below). If we have enough participants who will benefit from weekly groups, we will increase the frequency of our group.

For the group held January 27, participants can join via Facebook or via phone to receive support. After January, we will move our group to Facebook and discontinue phone support. If you have any questions, please contact Shannon Lyon at 801-240-3096 or at sagerssd@ldschurch.org.

  1. Hello. I am a birth mom and adopted adult, I am writing a book! It will be a collection of true stories. All about the wonderful gift of adoption. I would love to hear anyones story if you are: * Birth mother * Adoptee * Adoptive parent please email me your story. If you would like to remain anonymous that is up to you. Depending on how many stories I get, your story might be edited for space. If there is a large amount I will do more then one book. We will see. I am doing this for the one young girl who feels like no one has ever been in her shoes. Who feels like she has no options. Maybe if she reads my story or yours she will know what a blessing adoption is!! So pread the word...Let everyone who has been touched by adoption that this is their chance to be heard and to share their amazing story!!! email me at jorireid@hotmail.com
